The Chief Engineer leads all engineering and maintenance operations for Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island, ensuring the resort's facilities, systems, and infrastructure are maintained to the highest luxury, safety, and sustainability standards. This role manages a skilled engineering team and oversees all utilities—critical to operating a remote private island resort.
Oversee maintenance and operation of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, life safety, and utility systems.
Ensure all buildings, villas, public areas, and back-of-house facilities meet Waldorf Astoria standards.
Lead the preventive maintenance program to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
Manage, train, and motivate the engineering team to deliver consistent high performance.
Promote a strong culture of safety, professionalism, and teamwork.
Lead CAPEX projects, upgrades, and long-term maintenance planning.
Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and external partners on technical works.
Ensure property-wide compliance with Hilton, Waldorf Astoria, and Seychelles regulatory standards.
Conduct technical inspections, drills, and audits.
Drive sustainability initiatives aligned with Hilton's ESG goals and the island's environmental priorities.
Manage departmental budgets, purchasing, and cost control.
Track utility consumption and implement efficiency measures.
Respond promptly to guest and team member engineering needs.
Collaborate effectively with all departments to ensure smooth daily operations.
Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or similar).
5+ years of engineering leadership experience in luxury hospitality or remote island operations.
Strong technical knowledge of utilities, mechanical/electrical systems, and preventive maintenance.
Experience managing multicultural teams and large-scale facilities.
