Warehouse Operator Job
The Warehouse Operator is responsible for the efficient and accurate handling of materials within the warehouse environment. This role involves manual labor, operation of basic equipment, and adherence to safety standards to ensure the proper receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods. The Warehouse Operator plays a vital role in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting order fulfillment, and ensuring smooth warehouse operations.
Key Functions and Responsibilities:
- Receiving Goods: Unload incoming shipments manually or using basic equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts after proper training. Verify received items against packing slips, purchase orders, or delivery documents for accuracy and completeness. Conduct visual inspections for damages, defects, or discrepancies and report issues promptly.
- Inspection & Identification: Visually inspect incoming products for quality and correctness. Identify items using labels, barcodes, or other identification methods to ensure proper categorization and storage. Record and document any damages or discrepancies for resolution.
- Counting & Documentation: Count and record quantities of incoming and outgoing materials accurately. Update inventory management systems or logs to reflect current stock levels. Assist with inventory reconciliation and cycle counts as required.
- Storage & Organization: Place materials in designated storage locations following organizational standards for safety and efficiency. Ensure proper labeling and placement to facilitate easy retrieval and inventory control. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
- Order Picking & Packing: Select items from storage based on customer orders or internal requests, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Pack products securely using appropriate packing materials, labels, and containers to prevent damage during transit. Prepare shipments with correct documentation, including shipping labels and delivery notes.
- Shipping & Dispatch: Coordinate with carriers or logistics providers for pickup and delivery schedules. Verify that outgoing shipments are correct and complete before dispatch. Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards during loading and shipping activities.
- Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Operate basic warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, or forklifts (after proper training and certification). Perform routine checks and maintenance on equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Report safety hazards or incidents immediately to supervisors.
- Support & Continuous Improvement: Assist with inventory counts, stock replenishment, and warehouse organization projects. Follow established procedures and contribute ideas for process improvements. Maintain a positive attitude and teamwork to support overall warehouse efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 1 or 2 years of prior experience required; training provided on warehouse procedures and equipment operation.
- Ability to perform manual tasks, lift heavy objects safely, and operate basic equipment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and inventory management.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
