IoT Firmware Engineer

We are urgently seeking an experienced IoT Firmware Engineer to join the implementation team for a Greengrass-based edge computing solution. The end client currently uses edge gateways for physical environment monitoring (temperature, humidity, etc.) and data collection. They plan to migrate their existing system from Balena to AWS Greengrass.

We are looking for a skilled engineer to drive the initial implementation phase. This is a contract role with the potential for extension into a longer phase focused on integrating legacy systems and migrating historical data into the new Greengrass environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of the AWS Greengrass edge computing solution on IoT edge gateways
• Collaborate with client teams to understand current system architecture and migration requirements
• Migrate existing device firmware and software from Balena to Greengrass
• Develop, test, and deploy firmware updates and edge applications in Greengrass environments
• Troubleshoot and optimize device performance and data collection processes
• Assist in planning for Phase 2 involving data import and legacy system integration
• Document technical processes and implementation details

Qualifications

• Proven experience with AWS Greengrass development and deployment (must-have)
• Strong background in IoT firmware engineering, embedded systems, or related fields
• Experience with edge computing technologies and architectures
• Familiarity with Balena platform is a plus
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, or similar for embedded development
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
