About the Role

Sutherland Service is located on Hōhepa's main campus and supports four women aged from their early 20s to mid-30s. In this role, you will be providing night-time support, including to one individual who uses a wheelchair and experiences mobility challenges.

Below is further information about the women supported at Sutherland Service:

• Beth enjoys spending time in sensory rooms and participating in music therapy. She finds comfort and happiness in activities such as going for drives, shopping, and colouring. She also enjoys visiting cafés or bakeries with her family and helping staff in the kitchen when given encouragement and support.
• Henna also enjoys sensory experiences and music therapy, as well as relaxing through drives and shopping trips. She likes colouring, visiting cafés or bakeries with her family, and helping in the kitchen with gentle prompting. Regular visits to her mother are particularly important to her overall wellbeing.
• Shar enjoys going out for shopping and drives, as well as spending time outdoors on walks or at playgrounds. She loves watching DVDs—especially Bob the Builder—and spending time in sensory spaces. Regular family visits are also valued and contribute to her sense of comfort and connection.
• Jas, who has recently joined the home, brings a wonderful sense of humour and expresses herself through laughter and giggles. She enjoys all types of music and loves swimming. While she sometimes uses a walker or wheelchair, she remains active, social, and eager to participate in community activities.

The ladies in this service enjoy having structure and routine, and they actively participate in household activities. They all value the company of their Support Workers and flat mates.

You will be energetic, empathetic and able to work alongside this person focusing on creating a life of rich and diverse experiences while being able to read situations, problem solve and apply boundaries or offer space. Nightly tasks include supporting with night routines while encouraging independence to develop skills and personal growth. You will have the confidence to support personal cares, cooking, medication administration, and household tasks. This position's salary scale is set by pay equity and dependent on qualification level, pays between $23.50 and $29.10 per hour.

Rostered hours:

• Sunday and Monday 11pm to 7am
• Monday and Tuesday 7am to 9am

Please note: the morning shifts are fixed term and will end on 2 May 2026. Total hours per fortnight: 40.
