Resident Engineer position is part of Juniper Global Delivery Services team for Security. This position is a highly technical role, providing post-sales support of Junipers Network Products. The Resident Engineer will be required to develop and maintain expertise on the products deployed or to be deployed within the Customer's network. This role requires close integration of efforts between Services, Development Engineering, Product Management and Sales. This is a full-time position that requires some schedule flexibility to effectively interface with global colleagues.
What You'll Do:
• Hold design and information-gathering workshops with the Customer to understand the Customer's existing network design.
• Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems of a diverse scope, where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
• Assist to customer/partner for troubleshooting the network's design and architecture issues, analyzing network and device configurations.
• Works internally with Juniper SE and Engineering team to relay & drive functionality requirements specific to customer environment.
• Works closely with other resident engineers, customer and Juniper Technical Assistance Centre to optimize network. Acts as a customer technical liaison for Juniper Networks support and development teams.
• Testing product features and functionality to provide solution post implementation to meet design requirement.
• Providing deployment guidance to ensure that implementations are consistent with design specifications.
• Applying extensive industry experience to improve network performance and proactively analyze potential enhancements. Evaluating technical specifications for interoperability.
• Assists customer/Partner in the development and testing of new features and solutions.
• Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise to expand knowledge base.
• Hold discussions on customer requirements and assist them on network problems, design needs and the workarounds/solutions that are being tried.
• Hold technology workshops with the Customer to discuss equipment and network problems, and to provide case status updates, including the reasons for any problems encountered and the workarounds/solutions that are being tried.
• Document network design requirement and update design document time to time.
• Validation of MOP's and assisting partner and customer during migration/implementation.
• Adhere to Juniper process and provide best practices to help customer optimize/design network with worldwide trend/solutions.
• Proactive alerts on security threats, compliances, bulletins & procedures.
What You Need to Bring:
• Bachelor degree in engineering with 12+ of experience with relevant network troubleshooting experience. Proven experience in designing and managing large service provider networks.
• Strong influencing skills, design, consultation, and presentation experience directly related to operational experience.
• Understand Network security, Service provider core & edge network, Data centre troubleshoot complicated hardware and software issues, replicate customer environments and network problems in the lab.
• Strong Junos skills and understanding of product architectures.
• Strong Network security, Service Provider, data centre, large Enterprise/ISP network design & solution provider skills.
• The ability to work independently and to function in a team environment.
• Strong customer interface and presentation skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills as the role works with many organizations within Juniper as well as with the customer.
• Effective written communications as the status of Design projects and network problems must be regularly communicated.
• Subject matter expert for implementing Juniper Networks products and solutions with strong emphasis on the Juniper Security Portfolio including Branch SRX, High-End SRX, Security Director, Juniper Secure Analytics (JSA), SKY ATP and Policy Enforcer.
• Hands-on configuration and operational knowledge of Juniper Networks SRX firewalls and/or of the following security products: Cisco, Check Point, Juniper Networks/Netscreen ScreenOS Firewalls, ISS, Tipping Point, Remote Access solutions, QRadar, Juniper Secure Analytics (JSA), Junos Space, Junos Security Director.
• Experience with VPNs and the associated tunneling technologies and architectures (IPSEC, GRE, hub and spoke).
• Experience with NAT (Source, Destination, Static, CGN, NAT-PT).
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and work calmly under pressure.
• Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals
• Strong on Routing protocols & MPLS knowledge e.g. ISIS, OSPF, BGP, RSVP, LDP, IPv6 & Routing Policies, 6VPE/PE
• Understanding on VPN technologies (e.g. L2VPN, L3VPN, VPLS)
• Layer 2 protocols and technologies such as POS and Ethernet
• Strong knowledge on Class of service, HQOS
• Preferred Certifications - JNCIE or CCIE
• Hands-on knowledge on Juniper Hardware: MX, QFX, PTX, SRX series is a strong plus.
• Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
