Job Description

Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance for process improvements and establishing policies. Exercises significant independent judgment to determine the best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. May provide mentoring and guidance to lower-level employees.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers moderate to highly complex and innovative learning solutions to the target audience to engage the learner, encourage participation, and produce desired outcomes.
  • Leads the creation of instructional and delivery methods using various learning solutions and technologies, including coaching and acting as a subject matter expert in more than one content domain.
  • Skilfully manages a learning environment with limited advance preparation, constructive feedback, and prediction of and response to learner needs.
  • Establishes credibility by demonstrating expert knowledge of solution content, providing relevant business examples, and helping learners apply learning to on-the-job situations.
  • Anticipates and incorporates legal, ethical, and cultural issues relevant to solution delivery by acting as a role model.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Expert ability to quickly understand and adopt new, complex technologies and concepts.
  • Expert ability to evaluate variances in learning styles within an audience.
  • Advanced familiarity with learning content and delivery solutions.
  • Advanced delivery skills, including teaching, facilitating, and mentoring capability. Facilitate instructor-led (ILT), virtual instructor-led (vILT), and virtual resource group (VRG) sessions, bringing energy and clarity to complex technical topics.
  • Create, update, and enhance instructor-led course content, participant guides, and supporting materials for technical learning solutions.
  • Lead or participate in cross-team train-the-trainer sessions, helping other instructors ramp-up and maintain high delivery standards.
  • Work closely with fellow trainers, lab administrators, and subject matter experts to ensure training programs run smoothly.
  • Support the creation of web-based training content and instructional videos, and serve as an on-screen SME and content reviewer.
  • Assist with lab administration tasks, including hardware/software installations, upgrades, break/fix, and reconfiguration, to ensure all equipment is ready for classes.
  • Engage in curriculum development, course schedule planning, and reporting, supporting the continual improvement of our training portfolio.
  • Help with training project planning, equipment forecasting, and procurement as needed.
  • Contribute ideas to improve training quality and support the achievement of team goals and objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Education, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with instructional design or course material development is helpful.
  • Ability to work effectively across teams and manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with HPC environments, technical infrastructure, or training labs is an advantage.
