Job Description:

About the Team:

HPE Networking develops high-performance, rack-mounted systems that power hyperscale data centers and cloud infrastructure worldwide. Our Mechanical Engineering team designs robust electro-mechanical platforms that meet demanding structural, thermal, and reliability requirements.

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern with strong interest in structural simulation and vibration analysis to support next-generation networking hardware development.

What You'll Work On:

  1. Perform structural simulations using ANSYS (preferred)
  2. Conduct modal analysis and vibration studies on rack-mounted systems
  3. Support static structural analysis (deflection, mounting loads, thermal stress)
  4. Perform lab experiments to improve designs and to validate simulations
  5. Contribute to mechanical design reviews and prototype validation
  6. Collaborate with electrical, thermal, and manufacturing engineers

You will work on real shipping hardware programs under the mentorship of senior engineers.

Education:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (3rd year preferred)
  • Strong background in:
    • Solid mechanics
    • Non-linear analysis
    • Vibrations and dynamics
  • Experience with ANSYS or similar FEA tools
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills

Nice to Have:

  • Research or internship experience in structural simulation
  • Exposure to electronics packaging or electro-mechanical systems
  • Understanding of modal testing or vibration theory
  • Experience with accelerometer and strain gauge instrumentation
