Performs patient care and orthopedic procedures in assigned area under the direction of a physician or licensed healthcare provider. The Ortho Technician supports the orthopedic team by assisting with treatments, applying casts and splints, and maintaining patient comfort and safety.
Assists with treatments requiring plaster casts and/or surgical procedures involving fractures as ordered by a physician.
Sets up and applies medical devices related to orthopedics, including splints, braces, and traction equipment.
Reports abnormal assessment findings or changes in orthopedic conditions to staff.
Maintains current knowledge of orthopedic policies and procedures through training, testing, and skills labs.
Ensures patient comfort and safety while maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment.
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required. At least six (6) months of previous clinical experience as a Medical Assistant or Orthopedic Technician required. Casting and splinting experience preferred.
Current Heart Saver Certification required.
Knowledge of orthopedic anatomy, casting, and splinting techniques. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment. Detail-oriented and committed to patient safety and quality care.
