Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Under the direction of the Director of Maintenance Services, the Manager leads the operation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of facility systems and non-clinical equipment, including dietary equipment, beds, furnishings and grounds. The role oversees trades staff, workflow, and resources to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant service delivery in a complex healthcare environment.

  • Contractor coordination
  • Supporting projects through design review and inspection
  • Managing the evaluation of non-medical equipment
  • Leading recruitment and staff development
  • Supporting safety programs
  • Maintaining code and CSA compliance
  • Providing technical direction to consultants
  • Ensuring site housekeeping standards are upheld

Experience

Minimum of seven years' experience as Journeyperson or license trade, with at least five years' experience in a recognized management capacity. Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required. Manitoba Electrical, Industrial Mechanic, Plumber, Steamfitter Journeyperson Certificate, or Power Engineer Class 3 or Electrical license required. Completion of a recognized course in landscaping would be an asset.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

Manitoba or Inter-Provincial current and valid Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic, Plumber or Steamfitter Certificate, or Power Engineer Class 3 or higher, or Electrical license required.

Qualifications and Skills

Must have a working knowledge of a wide spectrum of building systems and equipment found in large hospitals. Demonstrated good managerial abilities and good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills essential. Manual dexterity, visual and aural acuity.
