Lead Hand - Industrial Mechanic - Facilities Service Shop

Under the general direction of the Manager, the Lead Hand is responsible for guiding staff in the maintenance of relevant equipment (i.e. ward/ICU beds, OR tables, grounds/dietary equipment, facilities safeguarding, etc.), including welding and machining. Assists in the organization and coordination of the Shop's workflow to ensure efficient utilization of resources. Performs the duties of an Industrial Mechanic. Evaluating capital purchases for relevant equipment.

Experience:

  • At least five (5) years' experience in the relevant field, preferably in a hospital environment, in all phases of troubleshooting and repairing relevant equipment (i.e. ward/ICU beds, OR tables, grounds/dietary equipment, facilities safe guarding and etc.).
  • Two (2) years lead hand or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in utilizing electronic devices to troubleshoot relevant equipment.
  • Experience in the development of preventative maintenance routines for equipment and systems would be an asset.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):

  • Complete Grade 12, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Completion of a course in supervision or management as recognized by the Centre required.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:

  • Manitoba Journeyman Industrial Mechanic certificate required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • The incumbent must be self-motivated and possess strong analytical, organizational and communication skills and an aptitude for customer service.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the position including manual dexterity required.
  • Position may require working from ladders, scaffolding, high level platforms or in confined spaces and enclosures.
