Job Summary

The Clinic Patient Care Technician is a paraprofessional who acts under the direction of a Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, RN or LPN to provide supportive patient care, clerical support and other functions to facilitate patient care and clinical workflows.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Assist with management of patient information to facilitate flow and communication needs within the pre-visit planning, rooming, transfer, and discharge processes during outpatient appointments.

Collects and documents data to support the patient plan of care, including but not limited to; height, weight and other vital signs.

Prepares and assists with patient examinations and assists medical staff with certain treatments and procedures (i.e. suturing, eye exam, enemas, etc.).

Collects, documents and enters the appropriate codes/charge capture to support necessary workflows.

Provides for clinic organization and cleanliness, including but not limited to removing portable items from exam rooms or clinic space as needed, cleaning exam rooms and procedure rooms, disinfecting reusable patient supplies per infection control guidelines, and various stocking responsibilities.

Assists with prescription needs within scope, incoming phone calls and provider schedule maintenance.

Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Maintains confidentiality of the organization and patients.

Reports any health/medical errors.

Observes all Environment of Care policies and reports safety risks or hazards immediately.

Education, Training or Degree Required

Current active status on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry, current Trained Medication Aide (TMA), Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA), or Certified Health Unit Coordinator (CHUC). Completion of ongoing training requirements specific to the departments served.

License/ Registration/ Certification Required (Will Be Primary Source Verified by HR)

Current CPR required. If not CPR certified, certification will be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Experience and Skills (Indicate Preferred or Required)

Previous experience in healthcare facility preferred. Good oral and written communication required. Demonstrated customer service skills required.
