The Staff Nurse II provides clinical care and uses coordination skills for every patient served. This includes understanding of the expected patients served in the unit(s) nursing care is delivered using the Eskenazi Health Model of Care-Synergy, the ability to coordinate with the patient and family/loved ones and other healthcare disciplines to ensure care is appropriate to meet patient care needs.
The Smith Level I Shock Trauma Center is the largest and busiest emergency department in Indiana. We evaluate and treat over 100,000 patients per year; that's about 300 patients per day. The Level I trauma verification is the highest award given by the American College of Surgeons for excellence in trauma care and Eskenazi Health is the oldest trauma center in the state. Eskenazi Health is also certified as a Primary Stroke Center and offers the latest advances in emergency care of the stroke patient. The emergency department at Eskenazi Health consists of 110 private rooms, 5 resuscitation/shock rooms, and a 16 bed Clinical Decision Unit. The emergency department can be a dynamic and exciting environment requiring quick decision-making and excellent problem-solving skills. The emergency department at Eskenazi Health is the safety net for residents in Indianapolis and Marion County. They ensure world class care is provided to underserved populations and low-income patients.
