This internship is structured to provide college students with real-world work experience in a professional environment and assist them in preparing for their future careers. The Crisis Communication intern will assist the Public Relations team in writing, media relations, policy review, social media, etc. While this intern will primarily work with the PR team, the intern will also have exposure to other departments and programs. Hours are flexible, but ideally this intern will commit to 20 hours a week.
Assignments include but may not be limited to: Publications design and writing – flyers, press releases, brochures and pamphlets Writing in AP style Media relations Social media Photography and videography Reviewing communication plans Developing content for press releases, newsletters and social media Planning and attending incident exercises Attending production and editorial board meetings
Education/Experience: Must be currently at a Junior or Senior status, or graduate student, at a university majoring in journalism, public relations, communications, or marketing. Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have effective time-management skills, can work in a deadline-driven environment, possesses a strong initiative for getting assignments, and will be detail-oriented.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and social media.
A dedicated computer and workstation will be available. This intern will work in office.
