Are you a visionary leader passionate about advancing clinical excellence, patient safety, and health equity? Eskenazi Health is seeking a dynamic Chief Quality Officer (CQO) to lead our system-wide quality strategy and performance improvement initiatives. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of care delivery in one of Indiana's most respected health systems.

About the Role

As Chief Quality Officer, you will serve as a senior physician leader reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer. You'll chair the Quality Board and oversee quality efforts across six core domains:

  • Specialty Medicine
  • Inpatient Medicine
  • Surgical Care
  • Ambulatory Primary Care
  • Ambulatory Mental Health
  • Emergency Department

You'll collaborate closely with the Chief Regulatory and Patient Safety Officer, nursing leadership, and executive teams to drive high-quality, safe, and equitable care across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of a unified quality strategy.
  • Chair the Quality Board and guide strategic direction across clinical domains.
  • Align regulatory compliance, patient safety, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Define and monitor annual quality priorities in partnership with clinical leadership.
  • Promote evidence-based methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA).
  • Oversee transparent reporting of clinical performance data.
  • Ensure readiness for regulatory and accreditation standards (CMS, Joint Commission).
  • Champion health equity and elevate patient voices in quality initiatives.
  • Serve as a mentor and ambassador across the organization and community.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will hold a Medical Degree (MD or DO) and be board-certified in a medical specialty, with eligibility for licensure in Indiana. You'll bring at least five years of clinical leadership experience in quality, patient safety, or performance improvement, along with a proven track record of leading enterprise-wide initiatives and interdisciplinary teams.

You should have a strong understanding of external quality benchmarks and EMR integration, with expertise in interpreting clinical data and applying evidence-based medicine. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to collaborate across diverse teams. A deep commitment to health equity, mutual respect, and fostering a culture of collaboration is fundamental to success in this role.

Why Eskenazi Health?
