Assistant Manager - Sales (FedEx)

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare the annual business plan through market research, competitor analysis, and evaluation of existing throughput volumes to provide clear direction for achieving budget targets.
  • Achieve monthly sales revenue contribution targets in line with the Business Plan.
  • File Target Pricing with the principal to obtain required discounts based on customer profiles.
  • Build strong commercial relationships with agents, principals, and customers by conducting visits, sharing information, and generating sales leads to maximizing revenue.
  • Ensure timely and accurate principal reporting in compliance with guidelines, while identifying competitor developments through market research to support informed business decisions.
  • Adhere to company standards for customer relationships by regularly evaluating KPIs to ensure 100% customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Ensure collection of debtors within agreed recovery periods by adhering to company credit policies, maintaining smooth customer operations, and positive cash flow.
  • Capitalize on volumes and products under the express division to meet monthly KPIs and generate incremental business.
  • Expand market coverage in the B2B, SMME, and B2C segments by actively promoting services and enhancing reach through facts and direct face-to-face sales calls.
  • Allocate adequate resources and provide customers with the necessary information to build awareness, ensuring the maintenance of productivity and efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or equivalent in Shipping & Logistics or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience at executive level and over 5 years in courier operations and sales.
  • Strong knowledge of Air Express, Shipping Liner, Airline, Consolidation, and Freight Forwarding businesses.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Sound leadership qualities with demonstrable interpersonal skills.
