Provides engineering support in the installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, training, project management, reliability and root cause analysis, and purchasing of substation equipment.
Knowledge Requirements: Thorough working knowledge of electrical/electronic engineering fundamentals, as applied to the electric utility industry, normally acquired through college level courses at an accredited college or equivalent experience. A BSEE will nominally fulfill the knowledge requirement. Professional Engineer license strongly desirable. Working knowledge of personal computers and/or mainframe systems for spreadsheet, word processing, etc., software applications. Understanding of the principles of operation and maintenance of substation equipment in an electric utility environment or equivalent experience. Working knowledge of LEAN continuous improvement principles and best practices to achieve operational excellence. Working knowledge of SafeStart principles and best practices to achieve a safe workplace environment.

Ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities. Ability to read, interpret and explain to others complex instructions relating to equipment operation, testing and maintenance. Must meet the standards for driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Driving Positions policy.
Experience Requirements: 5-7 years of working experience in the operation and maintenance of electrical/electronic systems in an electric utility environment. Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited engineering school in Electrical Engineering or equivalent of the degree in appropriate education, or equivalent experience. State of Hawaii Professional Engineer License in relevant discipline is highly desired in order to stamp drawings and designs required to obtain construction and building permits.
Supervises and directs all Substation Service Engineer and Substation Predictive Maintenance activities relating to inspections, equipment testing, troubleshooting, data collection and analysis, for all substations and assigned vaults. Represent the Division in a Leadership position in various activities that will fulfill the Company's goals and objectives.
