The Role

The Operations Technician will work in a challenging, hands on environment supporting government customers.

The Main Responsibilities

Configures and tests network fiber optic equipment (OC-3, OC-12, OC-48 and OC-192). Phones, routers, switches, gateways, install, commission, configure BLSR ADM terminal shelves, CSU/DSU, audio, and frame relays, IP- Ethernet Switches and Perform Basic Router Configuration. Experience with SONET and DWDM equipment and Networks required. Perform DS-3 cabling terminations (BNC, etc); cable trough/ladder rack construction. Construct fiber optic pigtails and terminate and test fiber optic cables. Perform limited electrical work such as wiring of rectifiers and small breakers. Perform Central office wiring. Uses software and hardware tools to identify and diagnose network status and performance. May support Outside plant activities as required for cable placement, splicing, and testing.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Experience in network installation maintenance, and operations of classified government high speed optical transport system and system components Ability to redline as-built drawings and update Engineering Design Packages (EDPs) Associate degree in Engineering, Electronics, Software, or Networks; or a related technical or vocational education or equivalent experience. Five or more years applicable work experience. Experience with SONET and DWDM Platforms required. Experience with Infinera, Cisco, and Ciena equipment beneficial Under Supervision, installs and troubleshoots DC power Systems Knowledge of telecommunications installations standards required. Knowledge of telecommunications test equipment, operation, procedures, and practices Knowledge of Outside Plant practices is a plus Experience with MS Office suite Strong people skills Must have a clean driving record Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information (Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation.) US Citizenship required

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
