Director of Clinical Operations

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston is actively seeking full-time Radiation Oncology faculty members with expertise in their selected disease site subspecialty to serve as the Director of Clinical Operations.

As a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, BIDMC and the Department of Radiation Oncology, provide a clinically advanced and supportive academic environment for residents, fellows, and faculty. We're also proud and excited to be an integral part of the landmark collaboration among Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) to establish New England's only freestanding adult inpatient cancer hospital. The collaboration will provide unparalleled opportunities for radiation oncology and other physician specialties to be part of DFCI's internationally recognized cancer team.

As Director of Clinical Operations, this individual will work closely with the Vice-Chair of Clinical Operations will lead the day-to-day oversight and execution of clinical operations across the Department of Radiation Oncology, translating strategic priorities into reliable, high-performing workflows. Working closely with physicians, trainees, physics and dosimetry, nursing, therapy, and administrative teams, the Director will operationalize clinical schedules, staffing and coverage models, and resource allocation to ensure safe, timely, and efficient patient care. They will proactively monitor key performance metrics, including access, throughput, treatment timelines, and equipment utilization, identify operational gaps, and implement corrective actions in real time. Serving as the central point of coordination for clinical operations, the Director will address escalations to the Vice Chair of Clinical Operations and leadership as needed, support onboarding and integration of new faculty, ensure adherence to regulatory and quality standards, and drive continuous process improvement to optimize the patient and provider experience.

Responsibilities will include clinical care with a focus on their selected disease site subspecialty in radiation oncology, teaching and research activity at the Main Campus in Boston as appropriate with an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to be determined based on experience and qualifications. This role is an employment model position in Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Following regulatory approval, successful candidates will also provide clinical care at DFCI.

Interested candidates should have:

  • Board Certification in Radiation Oncology/eligibility within one year of employment
  • Individual Federal DEA
  • Massachusetts Medical License
  • MA Controlled Substance Registration

Pay Range: $460,000 - $527,500
