Manufacturing Engineer

Join world-class experts in finding answers to our customers' most challenging questions as a Manufacturing Engineer. The successful candidate will be experienced in and provide new product introduction and sustaining responsibilities in support of manufacturing Opto-Mechanical and Electrical systems. The Manufacturing Engineer will be a member of the manufacturing engineering support team ensuring On-Time Delivery (OTD) of products and services and continually improve processes and product quality while supporting the daily sustaining efforts in the manufacturing area.

As a manufacturing engineer, you will:

  1. Act as a liaison between Engineering product development teams and Manufacturing.
  2. Be a member of the new product development team ensuring efficient and effective transfer of product designs to manufacturing.
  3. Support continuous improvement through the use of Lean principles to drive quality and productivity improvement projects.
  4. Participate and drive New Product Introduction activities by providing a comprehensive list of documentation and schedule requirements for new products released to manufacturing
  5. Work with engineering teams to create and support IQ, OQ & PQ processes and required documentation pertaining to New Product Introduction (NPI)
  6. Development of production tooling using SolidWorks CAD software
  7. Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to improve quality, increase productivity in a safe and cost-effective manner.
  8. Provide daily production sustaining and support for existing products
  9. Test and recommend new equipment, processes, and technologies to produce opto-mechanical and electrical systems.
  10. Work as a part of a global manufacturing engineering team.
  11. Occasionally travel to our US headquarters for training and project related work.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

Our ideal candidate brings a wealth of experience and should possess the following qualities/skills:

  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks CAD software.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing concepts and Lean principles.
  • Electrical and Opto-Mechanical product experience preferred.
  • Ability of creating multi-level BOM and creating/updating SOPs.
  • Responsible for Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) / Engineering Change Request (ECRs) as required.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Must be able to work with a sense of urgency while maintaining safety & quality standards.
  • Ability to multitask / manage several projects at one time.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Must be a good communicator and team player.
  • Enthusiastic, cooperative, and positive behavior.
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot electrical/electronic parts is a plus.
  • Prior experience in automation is a plus.
  • Fluent spoken and written English and German is a requirement.

Education and Experience Requirements or Equivalencies:

  • 3-5 years of operations experience in a manufacturing environment with increasing responsibilities.
  • BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong engineering aptitude with ability to learn and adapt to new processes.
  • Experience working with manufacturing part flow of electrical and opto-mechanical components and systems is a plus.
  • Behave as a 'Change Agent' to continually improve processes and systems.
  • Demonstrated skills in working on cross functional team development and leading skilled trades.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Computer knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience implementing foundational Lean Enterprise tools: Takt time, 8 Wastes, 5S, Standard Work, 1-Piece Flow along with Kaizen event participation, Kaizen event leading a plus.
