Senior Operations Manager

We are seeking a seasoned leader with strong regional expertise in the Boston, MA market to help us deliver safe, reliable, and innovative transportation solutions.

The Role

As a Senior Operations Manager, you will oversee large-scale commuter and shuttle operations across the Boston metropolitan area. You will lead a multi-level team of drivers, supervisors, dispatchers, and safety professionals to ensure service excellence, operational efficiency, and client satisfaction.

This role requires a strategic, hands-on leader with at least six (6) years of progressive transportation management experience, a proven track record of managing complex operations, and deep knowledge of the Boston region's transportation landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for multi-route operations (20+ routes), ensuring reliability, safety, and on-time performance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients in the Boston market; prepare and deliver operational performance reviews and presentations.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor supervisors, dispatchers, and frontline staff to build a high-performing operations team.
  • Oversee safety compliance across all operations, conducting and supporting accident/incident investigations as needed.
  • Manage operating budgets, control direct costs, and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Lead workforce planning, recruiting, and retention initiatives to ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on technology integration, EV infrastructure readiness, and fleet management strategies.
  • Troubleshoot operational challenges in real time, implementing solutions that uphold client expectations and service standards.
  • Ensure compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and other relevant federal, state, and local transportation regulations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6+ years of progressive operations management experience in the transportation industry (commuter, shuttle, or public transit preferred).
  • Demonstrated success overseeing 10–20+ routes and large multi-level teams.
  • Strong knowledge of the Boston, MA transportation market, including regional commuter patterns, regulatory environment, and client landscape.
  • Proven experience building client relationships and presenting operational performance metrics to stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, employee relations, and talent development skills.
  • Experience with budget management, cost control, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and transportation management systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of FMCSA regulations and DOT compliance standards.
