We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer 1 to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time, hybrid position located in our Portland, OR office.

Duties/Responsibilities In this position, you will:

  • Prepare and/or review written communications and technical deliverables.
  • Demonstrate and apply technical competence, knowledge of codes and regulations, and professional standards of practice to assigned tasks.
  • Leverage understanding of technical scopes of work for assigned work and their alignment with overall project objectives to deliver quality assignments.
  • Coach, mentor, and direct junior staff to ensure high-quality execution of project tasks, including field activities and preparation of technical reports and deliverables, while facilitating knowledge transfer for team development.
  • Use developing skills to be visible in your discipline by giving internal technical presentations and/or conference presentations and attending external networking events.
  • Lead technical evaluations and modeling/calculations related to geotechnical projects.
  • Play a leadership role in developing design drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct construction observation and oversee contractor management under the direction of the Engineer of Record, including quality control documentation and field testing tasks.
  • Plan and perform all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate the company's foundational safety behaviors.

Skills/Experience Minimum Skills and Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
  • 4 - 6+ years of related consulting experience with seismic, foundation design, support of excavation, and slope stability projects.
  • Professional registration in the State of OR.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including verbally communicating and presenting project information.
  • Desire to learn and grow in your profession, demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, resourcefulness, flexibility, and ownership.
  • Specialized software applications relevant to geotechnical engineering.

Preferred Skills:

  • 2+ years of related Assistant Project Management and task management experience is a plus.
  • Experience with seismic, foundation design, support of excavation, and slope stability projects.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates.
  • Revit skills a plus.
