Are you passionate about developing talent and ensuring excellence in patient care? Join our team as a Training & Education Specialist for Vision Services! In this role, you'll lead the coordination and delivery of all staff training, education, and competency programs across multiple sites.

The Vision Services Training & Education Specialist is responsible for the comprehensive coordination and management of all staff training, education, and competency programs within Vision Services across multiple sites in the tri-state area of Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

A key responsibility includes overseeing a robust 12-week training course for new staff, which culminates in an in-house exam proctored by the Specialist, ensuring thorough preparation and competency before staff begin independent work. Beyond initial training, the Specialist fosters ongoing professional development by managing continuous education, competency assessments, and refresher training for all Vision Services staff to maintain compliance and readiness. This role also identifies opportunities to improve workflow, efficiency, and staff performance across all vision sites and manages all Joint Commission preparation activities related to staff education and competencies, serving as a vital resource and point of contact for education needs and best practice adherence.

Responsibilities Include:

Develops and implements systems for managing staff competencies and skill level assessments across the entire Vision Services department, including all sites throughout the tri-state area of Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. This includes, but is not limited to, tracking certifications, BSM consulting and continuing education for all staff.

Provides training, education and support for all new hires across all Vision Services locations to create a streamlined and efficient approach to staff onboarding, thereby enhancing provider productivity.

Actively travel to all eye clinic locations to collaborate with clinicians and staff.

Coordinates and manages the GLOCAP training and education program within the Vision Services department.

Works collaboratively to ensure appropriate utilization of resources, adequate staffing and coordinated coverage for all Vision Services staff across the tri-state region. Manages issues related to FTE budget, position control, payroll and timekeeping, and assures staff compliance with training, education and licensure data, in cooperation with the Clinical Managers.

Ensures compliance with regulatory standards (JCAHPO), Emplify Health policies and procedures, confidentiality standards, practice guidelines, and standards of care across all Vision Services locations.

Coordinates all staff training on equipment and technology used throughout the Vision Services department sites.

Oversees and manages all compliance activities related to staff workflow and competencies across the tri-state Vision Services network.

Adheres to regular and predictable attendance.

Personally interacts, engages with and cares for patients.

What's Available:

Full time, 0.9 FTE; 72 hours bi-weekly

Schedule: Primarily Monday-Friday Days

Location: Based in La Crosse, WI with frequent travel to other clinics across multiple sites in the tri-state area of Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin

What You'll Need:

Education: High School diploma or equivalency

Experience: 3-4 years working as an Ophthalmic Technician with certification (COT)

License/Certification: Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) certified by JCAHPO or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) with Ophthalmic Surgical Assistant Certification by JCAHPO required within 18 months of hire.

Valid Driver's License (DL), Required

Strong organizational skills to manage multiple sites, timelines, and priorities.

Ability to create engaging learning materials and deliver effective training sessions.

Excellent interpersonal skills for working with clinicians, managers, and staff across regions.

Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel frequently within the tri-state area.
