Software Engineer II - Client Activation

Grow Therapy is on a mission to serve as the trusted partner for therapists growing their practice, and patients accessing high-quality care. Powered by technology, we are a three-sided marketplace that empowers providers, augments insurance payors, and serves patients. Following the mass increase in depression and anxiety, the need for accessibility is more important than ever. To make our vision for mental healthcare a reality, we're building a team of entrepreneurs and mission-driven go-getters. Since launching in February 2021, we've empowered more than ten thousand therapists and hundreds of thousands of clients across the country and insurance landscape. We've raised more than $178mm of funding from Sequoia Capital, Transformation Capital, TCV, SignalFire, and others.

We're hiring a Software Engineer II to help build and support the systems that power key client activation experiences at Grow, including scheduling, appointment notifications, authentication, and post booking experiences. In this role, you'll focus on shipping user facing improvements, supporting experimentation, and helping keep critical client journeys reliable and intuitive.

You'll join a team responsible for some of the most trust building moments in the client journey. This role is well suited for an engineer who enjoys execution, learning complex systems, and contributing to meaningful improvements while growing their technical depth in a production environment

Client Activation sits at the center of client trust and retention. Systems like scheduling and notifications directly impact whether clients show up to care, feel supported, and continue using the platform. As Grow scales, these systems become more complex, with asynchronous workflows, multiple third party vendors, and increasingly nuanced client state.

This role helps the team respond to new opportunities and day to day needs while maintaining momentum on longer term improvements. By owning scoped pieces of work and supporting triage and follow through, this engineer helps ensure that we can continue making progress on our goal of expanding access to high-quality mental healthcare for millions of Americans.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Build and ship client facing features across frontend and backend systems
  • Implement and support A/B tests and incremental experiments
  • Own and improve specific activation flows such as scheduling or ratings and reviews
  • Perform defensive UI work and help address edge cases and usability issues
  • Support debugging and triage efforts in collaboration with more senior engineers
  • Write high quality, maintainable production code and participate in code reviews
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Support partners to deliver well scoped solutions

You'll Be a Good Fit If:

  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Experience contributing to production systems and shipping user facing features
  • Comfort working across the stack or interest in developing full stack skills
  • Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks such as React and at least one backend language, Python preferred
  • Strong execution skills and ability to deliver scoped work with guidance
  • Product-minded approach with an understanding of how technical decisions impact user experience and business outcomes
  • Ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, including Product, Design, and Data Science
  • A bias toward ownership, speed, learning, and continuous improvement

Role Details:

  • Employment Type: Full Time, Exempt (or Non-Exempt)
  • Base Compensation: The base compensation range for this position is $149,000–$175,000 USD Annually.

This is a hybrid role with the expectation to work onsite from our NYC, San Francisco, or Seattle hub location three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and travel 2–3 times per year (e.g., company and department offsites). The base compensation for this role will vary depending on several factors, including relevant experience, qualifications, and the candidate's working location.

Full Time Employee Benefits:

  • Comprehensive Health Coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus life and disability coverage.
  • Parental Leave & Family Support: Up to 18 weeks paid leave and a new child stipend.
  • Financial Wellness: 401(k) program and equity opportunities.
  • Meals & Home Office Support: Stipends for home office setup and ongoing funds for meals, with tailored perks for both remote and in-office employees.
  • Time Off to Recharge: Flexible PTO, 12 paid holidays, and a full winter break week.
  • Wellness & Development: Annual stipends to put towards personal & professional growth.
  • Mental & Physical Health Support: No-cost access to therapy through the Grow platform, weekly flexible hours for self-care ("Mental Health Mornings/Afternoons") and memberships to leading wellness apps (such as One Medical, Headspace, and Talkspace).
  • Extra Perks: Pet insurance discounts, commuter benefits, and global travel assistance.

Research shows that some groups hesitate to apply unless they meet every qualification. If you're excited about this role but don't check every box, we encourage you to apply. At Grow, we value diverse experiences, transferable skills, and the unique strengths each person brings.

Grow Therapy is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.
