Cloud Infrastructure & Operations Engineer
The Cloud Infrastructure & Operations Engineer is a senior technical role supporting a client of Group O. This position is responsible for delivering secure, scalable, and cost-optimized cloud environments across Azure, AWS, Microsoft 365, and Entra ID. The role spans cloud engineering, infrastructure operations, governance, FinOps, compliance, and onboarding. It also serves as a key technical lead, overseeing a cloud operations partner to ensure alignment with standards, architecture, and delivery expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Functions: Cloud Engineering & Architecture
- Define and maintain cloud architecture standards, best practices, and reference designs
- Support DevOps pipelines, CI/CD tooling, and automation frameworks
- Develop and manage Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and deployment pipelines
- Provide architectural guidance and oversight for partner-delivered solutions
Infrastructure Operations
- Troubleshoot cloud connectivity, authentication, networking, and performance issues
- Support application teams and coordinate escalations with delivery partners
- Lead cloud provisioning, onboarding, and production deployments
- Support migrations (on-prem to cloud and cloud-to-cloud)
- Contribute to change management and patching strategies
- Provide cost estimates, sizing, and optimization recommendations
Identity & Access Management
- Manage Azure and AWS environments, including account structure and hierarchy
- Administer identity services, directory integrations, and access controls (RBAC)
- Oversee service principals, app registrations, and lifecycle management
Cloud Governance & Compliance
- Define and enforce policies, standards, and guardrails
- Maintain naming conventions, tagging frameworks, and configuration baselines
- Monitor environments for compliance, misconfigurations, and policy violations
- Support regulatory compliance efforts (e.g., SOX, PCI)
- Document exceptions and drive remediation
Cloud Onboarding
- Configure cloud accounts, subscriptions, and landing zones
- Establish ownership, access controls, and baseline configurations
- Capture required metadata for financial, security, and compliance tracking
FinOps & Cost Management
- Deliver cost reporting, dashboards, and consumption insights
- Monitor spend, identify anomalies, and drive optimization
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and FinOps maturity initiatives
Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE)
- Provide consulting and architecture support to internal teams
- Develop documentation, training, and knowledge base materials
- Partner with enterprise teams to advance cloud maturity
Vendor Oversight
- Direct and govern cloud operations partner activities
- Ensure adherence to engineering standards, security policies, and SLAs
- Review and approve deliverables (IaC, pipelines, builds, documentation)
- Drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency

Job Qualifications
Preferred Education/Certifications:
- Azure or AWS certifications
- FinOps certification
Experience:
- 5+ years in cloud infrastructure, operations, or engineering
- Strong experience with Azure, AWS, Entra ID, DevOps, Terraform, and networking
- Experience working with managed service providers or external partners
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with large-scale cloud migrations
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOX, PCI, ISO)
Skills and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of cloud governance, identity, and FinOps practices
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
