✨ About The Role
- As a Manufacturing Engineer (NPI) at Gridware, you will be responsible for owning the entire production process for hardware products, including the Gridscope and Gateway devices.
- You will work closely with the mechanical lead and embedded test engineer to design and optimize the supply chain and build process for new versions of the device.
- Your role involves significant collaboration with the current contract manufacturer to establish new production lines and develop long-term relationships with supply chain partners.
- You will be tasked with optimizing the supply chain to achieve predictability and cost savings.
- Part of your responsibilities includes developing documentation and fixturing to assemble devices.
- This role is critical in enhancing the safety and reliability of communities by contributing to the prevention of disasters related to electricity distribution.
- You will be the first full-time person in this role at Gridware, which will allow you to have an outsized impact on the company's processes, quality, and cost structure.
⚡ Requirements
- You should have at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, supply chain, or contract manufacturing, preferably gained in a startup or small company environment.
- Your experience should include managing multiple contract manufacturers, ideally across various locations in the United States.
- You have been involved in at least one cycle of contract manufacturer selection and negotiation.
- You have experience managing a supply chain that includes international suppliers and are capable of working in a startup environment.
- You are a proactive individual who can take ownership of the entire production process for hardware products.
- You are willing to travel significantly (estimated 30%) to work closely with contract manufacturers and optimize the supply chain.
- You are a good fit if you have a degree or equivalent skills in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
- You are a hands-on professional who can contribute to the design and optimization of the supply chain and build processes.
