The PV Project Engineer will be responsible for the coordination, management and deployment of solar PV projects, ensuring technical feasibility, accuracy and quality from conception to commissioning. Responsibilities include but not limited to preliminary design, costing, selecting, contracting and managing EPC contractors, as well as project planning, permitting, client coordination and commissioning. Additionally, the PV Project Engineer will assist other team members (Sales Managers/O&M Managers) and management in managing the day-to-day tasks of commercial development and due diligences, and O&M of solar PV projects in across central and eastern Europe (mainly Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Republic).
Design and Costing - Carry out preliminary site surveys and draw up a technical inspection reports - Do detailed analysis and preliminary designs based on information gathered on site audits or received from clients - Advise the Sales Managers on all technical subjects - Assists the Sales Managers in designing commercial offers best suited to client needs - Calculate and determine costs for proposed projects in preliminary stage as well as detailed costs for projects in final stages of the commercial phase - Build technical simulations and designs for the Sales Managers to assist in finalising solar PV solutions that are suitable and feasible for execution.
Contractor management and contracting - Conduct (and assist in conducting) contract negotiations with EPCs, contractors and consultants - Assist and support the commercial team (from a technical perspective) with clients' contract negotiations - Act as the point of contact for all technical subjects relating to the solar PV projects and the applicable contracting (commercial, EPC, sub-contractor)
Technical - Create energy yield simulations for different PV designs - Build preliminary PV plant designs and layouts for RFQs and permitting - Conduct technical due diligence audits on proposed PV designs - Scrutinize and optimize final PV designs from consultants and EPCs - Ensure/verify the accuracy and consistency of the technical information from clients, EPCs and consultants - Project planning and costing - Define the execution strategies to be implemented - Act as the main contact point for all technical subjects - Design and review permitting documents and application documents - Control the costs of the technical solutions to adhere to the project budget - Conduct technical quality and compliance checks of projects in deployment phase - Resolve technical issues found during deployment phase
Coordinate the commissioning of the solar PV plants, ensuring transparency and accuracy of the reports from the EPCs - Assist the O&M Managers with resolving technical issues on projects in O&M phase - Advise O&M Managers, EPCs and O&M contractors on industry best practises (from a technical perspective) to ensure optimal performance of the Solar PV plants - Perform and Manage performance testing of the solar PV plants and verify the accuracy of reports by the EPCs and O&M contractors - Assist the O&M manager in all PV plant operation related tasks, including reporting on plant performance
Project management - Manage all phases and aspects of the projects, from commercial signature, permitting, conceptual designs, EPC procurement, EPC, O&M and supplier contract negotiations, construction, quality control, commissioning, hand over to O&M. - Be the main point of contact for the client - Drive project progress and ensure timely execution
QHSE - Ensure QHSE rules are enforced during the deployment phase by all contractors, in coordination with GY HSE Corporate team - Assist the EPC contractors in planning of critical/high-risk site work, ensuring adherence to all applicable rules and regulations (such as HSE and site rules) - Deliver PV plants that are fit for purpose and built to last 25+ years
Others - Assist and advise the O&M Managers with managing existing stock and critical spares for the company`s PV plants - Train or coordinate the training of employees in operations, safety, environmental issues, or technical issues - Coordinate with corporate the technical team
Technical skills - Good knowledge of applicable regulations, best-practises and procedures - Good knowledge of applicable solar PV products, technologies, equipment and services - Strong technical acumen in terms of electrical systems and equipment relating to solar PV (LV and MV) - Strong technical knowledge of PV systems and the fundamentals its based on - Highly skilled in the use of PV simulation programs such as Helioscope, PVSyst, etc - Highly skilled in the use of MS Excel and AutoCAD and other applicable software
Soft skills - Ability to build positive working relationships, both internally and externally - Good written and oral communication skills - Team player – able to assist in various roles and divisions - Performance oriented - Proactive - Disciplined and strict adherer to rules and regulations - Able to work autonomously
Qualifications and requirements - Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering from a reputable university - At least 5 years of engineering experience where at least 3 years are RELEVANT experience in the fields of Solar PV - Good working knowledge on PV simulation and design software such as PVSyst and AutoCAD - PV O&M and/or BESS experience will be advantageous - English Language Fluency (Hungarian, Czech and/or Slovak a plus)
