Job Description:

A Brief Overview Manages the work activities of Environmental Services' Supervisors and EVS Staff members throughout the system. Direct activities for stopping the spread of infections in all facilities. Plan, oversee and Inspect work performed by the EVS Supervisors and EVS staff to ensure that it meets all procedures, processes, specifications and established standards. Plan and prepare employee work schedules. Perform or assist with cleaning duties as a form of training and support as necessary. Investigate complaints about service and equipment and take appropriate corrective actions in consult with the Director of EVS. Coordinate activities and foster productive relationships with other departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely manner. Provide training, support and mentoring of the EVS Supervisory and Leadership Team. Check equipment to ensure that it is in working order. Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of facilities to determine the type of work required. Select the most suitable cleaning materials for different types of linens, furniture, flooring, and surfaces. Instruct staff in work policies and procedures, and the use and maintenance of equipment. May perform the destruction of discarded patient health information. Maintains and utilizes software used in Environmental Services department. Assists to develop and provide training and support for staff in regard to our Hazardous Waste Programs. Assists the Director of EVS in administering all EVS functions, documentation and compliance related protocols.

What you will do

  • Perform the training and direct supervision of Supervisory Staff.
  • Oversee and participate in training and orientation of new staff; provides ongoing education.
  • Inspect work performed, develop and carry out necessary action plans to address any noncompliance to standards.
  • Plan and prepare employee work schedules.
  • Respond to departmental calls or operational needs during off-shifts, weekends, and holidays as required to ensure continuous coverage and support
  • Maintain required records of work hours, budgets, payrolls, and other information.
  • Screen job applicants, and hire new employees.
  • Monitor pest control operations and outcomes.
  • Aid in the recycling program by shredding paper and appropriate material
  • Aid in the training and administration of all Hazardous Waste Programs.
  • Assist Director of EVS in all EVS Department administration efforts.
  • Mentor and coach EVS Supervisors and staff to drive performance and service improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree (AA) or Vocational Training. Preferred
  • 4-6 years Previous, successful EVS management experience Required
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Teaching others how to do something.
  • Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  • The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you
  • The ability to identify and understand the speech of another person.

Need prior experience in successful management and leadership of large, diverse employee groups in the EVS hospital service industry.
