Broadcast Operations Manager - KBTX

KBTX Media is seeking an organized, enthusiastic professional to join our team as Broadcast Operations Manager who will lead our team of Technical Media Producers to deliver quality, on-air newscasts and pre-recorded productions. This position will oversee all technical aspects of our local daily broadcasts and will manage & train a team of TMPs to meet regular news production schedule deadlines.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Oversight of all Master Control and Broadcast operations, personnel, and department budgeting
• Training of personnel to prepare and direct live and pre-recorded content for KBTX, CW8 Aggieland, KBTX.com, and KBTX social media platforms
• Candidate should be detail-oriented and expect attention to detail from staff
• Conduct on-going staff training and review of procedures and equipment
• Work with other station departments, including the KBTX newsroom, to coordinate and produce top-rated television programs and digital content
• Monitor on-air signals for KBTX and oversight of daily programming and commercial ingest
• Operate Ross Overdrive automation (including Panasonic robotic cameras, Ross Carbonite Ultra Switcher, and Calrec audio console), iTX automation, VizRT graphics, Adobe Creative Cloud, and supporting equipment in the KBTX control center.
• Understanding of FCC broadcast regulations
• Occasional operation of Grass Valley Edius or similar news editing software
• Occasional operation of studio teleprompter

Qualifications/Requirements:

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of related experience in technical media production. Previous newscast directing and master control experience is required.
• Experience with live content, working with Ross switchers, VizRT, iTX Automation, and/or Adobe Creative Cloud applications is a significant plus
• Excellent communication skills, as working with TMPs, producers, editors, and other station departments requires constant, detailed communication
• Team player with a professional attitude
• Ability to multitask under time-sensitive deadlines
• Strong technical and computing skills
• Must be open to creative ideas and new technologies in a quickly evolving industry
• Clean driving record and reliable transportation.
• Ability to assist with event setup (lifting broadcast equipment up to 50 pounds)
