Aerospace, DoD, precision machining and metal fabrication company with a 98-year history
Role is opening due to current sales manager, who has been with the company for 15+ years, is transitioning to outside sales and no longer handle day-to-day management responsibilities
Company is nearing the retirement phase of several long-tenured employees and seeking someone to walk into the future with the organization and help drive growth
Position described as moldable, with primary focus on enhancing the sales function since that is where revenue originates
Day-to-day responsibilities center on managing multiple smaller teams underneath the position, including personal interaction and coaching of the sales group
Will oversee outside sales, inside sales, and customer service teams, with managerial tasks including performance reviews, interviewing, and team building
Very limited travel; family oriented business focusses on work-life balance with 9-5 mentality, minimal to no overtime and travel only to assist outside sales teams
Managerial experience is the primary requirement; emphasizing on proven experience in a manufacturing management role
Inside sales experience in manufacturing is preferred; aerospace, Dod, medical devices
Sales team management background is essential; candidate should have demonstrated success leading sales representatives and account managers
Precision machining or metal fabrication industry experience is ideal but not strictly required; open to candidates from similar manufacturing sectors if they understand how operations run and can learn the products
Ability to manage different functions and understand various parts of the operation is valued over perfect industry alignment
Understanding of the estimating process and how it integrates into sales is helpful, though direct oversight of estimating may not be required
Strong leadership and team-building capabilities are essential
Candidates with proven success in sales management roles are preferred over those with only aptitude and hunger for management
Geographic fit is important; relocation assistance is available for those with genuine commitment
Sales experience (as opposed to pure marketing experience) is the primary focus; marketing aspects of the role are secondary and can be learned
