Lead Hvac Technician

The job of Lead HVAC Technician is done for the purpose of providing HVAC services with specific responsibility for identifying repair and/or replacement needs; installing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading HVAC systems and equipment; assisting other skilled trades; and ensuring that tools and materials are available.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring HVAC systems and their components to evaluate condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance.
- Participating in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned.
- Performing maintenance on HVAC units to ensure the ongoing functioning of HVAC systems.
- Preparing written materials (e.g. status, activity logs, etc.)
- Repairing heating and air conditioning systems and/or components (e.g. pumps, motors, air handlers, fan coils, piping, etc.)
- Requesting equipment and supplies
- Responding to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Supervising HVAC staff and contractors for the purpose of ensuring work is performed at high levels and providing expertise as needed.
- Supervising contract work for the purpose of ensuring contract terms are fulfilled and work standards are met.
- Coordinating with assigned lead and/or supervisor and other trades.
- Delegating HVAC-related tasks to HVAC staff or contractors to ensure timely work order completion.
- Diagnosing causes of problems and/or failures in heating/air conditioning systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs.
- Informing personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations.
- Installing heating and air conditioning equipment and systems for the purpose of providing enhanced and/or upgraded capabilities.
- Maintaining vehicle, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition.
