Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Service Technician

Key Responsibilities

This role involves assembly, disassembly, diagnostics, and repair of large-scale foundation and heavy drilling equipment.

Core Technical Duties:

  • Component Overhaul: Assemble and disassemble complex equipment components, including hydraulic cylinders, hoses, pumps, motors, and controls; diesel engines; and power train assemblies (transmissions, torque converters, final drives).
  • Structural Work: Perform machining and fabrication of steel components.
  • Tool Operation: Safely and efficiently operate a forklift, overhead crane, power tools, hydraulic torque multipliers, and welding/cutting/burning tools.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate all types of heavy construction equipment, sometimes in tight spaces.
  • Fleet Maintenance: Complete repairs and preventative maintenance (P.M.'s) on drilling and pile driving equipment within required timeframes.

Diagnostic & Administrative Duties:

  • Perform thorough diagnostic testing of mechanical systems to isolate and troubleshoot problems.
  • Complete detailed service reports, look up parts, and process parts order requisitions.
  • Handle check-in/check-out sheets and quality control tags for rental equipment.
  • Perform minor repairs and diagnostics at jobsite locations as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • A desire to learn is our first requirement.
  • Experience working on heavy construction equipment is desired.
  • Strong emphasis or knowledge in:
    • Electronics
    • CAN-bus wiring
    • Hydraulics
    • Power Trains
    • Diesel Engines
