Field Service Technician
We are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to support manufacturing customers across Kentucky. In this role, you will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial manufacturing equipment at customer sites throughout the state, traveling during the week but returning home each weekend.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to manufacturing plants across Kentucky to perform service, maintenance, and repairs on industrial machinery and production equipment (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic).
- Diagnose equipment failures on production lines, identify root causes, and implement effective repairs to minimize downtime.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on packaging, conveying, machining, material handling, and other plant equipment.
- Support equipment installations, startups, and commissioning, ensuring proper configuration and operator readiness.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and OEM manuals to troubleshoot issues.
- Communicate clearly with plant maintenance and production teams, providing status updates and basic operator/maintenance training as needed.
- Maintain accurate service reports, parts usage, and documentation for each site visit.
- Adhere to all customer and company safety procedures while working in manufacturing environments and while traveling.
- Travel expectations: Kentucky-based territory with frequent weekday travel and occasional overnights; home every weekend except for rare, pre-approved exceptions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, electromechanical technology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience servicing industrial manufacturing equipment as a Field Service Technician, Industrial Service Technician, or Maintenance Technician.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with hands-on experience on motors, drives, PLC-controlled equipment, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues on production machinery under time pressure.
- Comfortable working in plant environments (noise, moving equipment, varying temperatures) and following lockout/tagout and other safety protocols.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills; able to represent the company professionally on-site.
- Ability to work independently in the field, organize travel efficiently, and manage multiple service calls.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
