The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Aging Services (DAS)/Vulnerable Adult Advocacy Section (VAAS)/ Forensic Special Initiatives Unit (FSIU) is seeking candidates for the position of Social Services Program Consultant Supervisor/FSIC Team Lead. This position will be assigned to the closest office of the incumbent and will require travel as necessary, possibly overnight. The chosen candidate must also successfully complete a GBI background check and polygraph.

Pay Grade: L. Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff. Conducts research involving data collection and analysis, develops and implements policy, and administers social services programs. Role and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as Team Lead for FSIU, managing the day to day work of the team, which includes providing technical assistance and case consultations and/or review for Law Enforcement and/or Adult Protective Services; training first responders and mandated reports on Tactics Specialist (CACTS), Facility at Risk Adult Crime Training (FACT) and ReACT training for mandated reporters.
  • Develops policies and procedures related to FSIU in coordination with the VAAS Manager and DAS Policy Section.
  • Works with the Program Integrity Section of DAS to ensure accurate and timely reporting of team activities in the DAS Data System (DDS).
  • Develops program goals, policy, training, outcome measures, and driving future planning and program development.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for FSIU in the DAS Data System (DDS).
  • Applies for and manages grants related to Older Americans Act Title VII or other applicable grants as available.
  • Builds partnerships with other departments/organizations including the twelve Area Agencies on Aging, Elder Legal Assistance Program, law enforcement, including the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI), etc.
  • Serves as liaison to the FSIU team in standing meetings, including Leadership, Division, and AAA meetings (as assigned).
  • Serves as an active team member for other program initiatives throughout the Division of Aging Services.

  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and interpersonal, with the ability to explain information clearly and concisely.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND five (5) years of professional job-related experience, which includes two (2) years in a lead worker, team leader, or supervisory role; OR One (1) year of experience at the lower level Social Svcs Prgm Consultant 3 (SSP042) or position equivalent.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree (Social Work, Gerontology, Human Services, Public Administration or related field preferred) with a minimum of two years experience in dementia-related programming or service delivery.
  • Minimum one year experience supervising two or more subordinate staff.
  • Experience in the administration of statewide aging services network either at the state, area agency on aging, or service provider level, including engaging community partners.
  • Demonstrated successful policy writing experience; experience providing consultation and technical assistance on policy interpretation and clarification.
  • Demonstrated leadership in current work duties/performance and skills.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
