Job Opportunity With The City Of Santa Clarita

The City of Santa Clarita is seeking an enthusiastic and highly organized individual to support their Contract Class program within the Recreation and Community Services Department. This part-time, year-round position is anticipated to work up to 20 hours per week, and will work typically during general business hours, with periodic evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

The Contract Class program offers classes that start as early as 8:00 a.m. and end as late as 10:00 p.m., providing a wide range of scheduling opportunities and flexibility based on program needs.

Duties and responsibilities include assisting in the planning, promotion, and delivery of a wide variety of contract classes for youth and adults, providing friendly, responsive customer service, using the City's registration system, handling office tasks, assisting in marketing efforts, operating personal and/or City vehicle, staying organized, communicating clearly, resolving issues, participating in meetings and training sessions, responding to emergencies, and performing other duties as directed.

Education and experience requirements include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, a valid Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation, at least two years of experience in customer service, recreation, clerical support, or other relatable experience, knowledge of recreation programming, general office experience, knowledge of social media practices and tools, and possession of, or ability to obtain within three months of hire, Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid certification.

Knowledge and abilities include being self-motivated, having strong attention to detail, being a strong team member, excellent customer service skills, clear communication, strong computer skills, creativity, ability to organize and prioritize tasks, strong interpersonal skills, ability to make sound decisions, strong work ethic, ability to follow and enforce City policies, ability to drive a vehicle, and ability to work flexible hours and a varied schedule.

Additional information includes an application deadline that will remain open until filled, a first review date of July 7, 2025, and requirements for an online completed City application form, proof of legal right to work in the United States, successful completion of a post-offer pre-employment physical, and participation in the DMV Employer Pull-Notice Program for part-time, temporary, and seasonal employees.
