Position

The historic Rancho Buena Vista's hacienda style adobe and courtyard is something to see and attracts people from all over the globe. The City of Vista has an Adobe Days School Program that serves children from schools throughout San Diego. Under the direction of the Adobe Days Director, instructors organize activities and crafts. Knowledge of California and Vista history is desirable, but as long as you enjoy working with elementary age students, we can teach you the rest! Salary: $17.89/hr. Work Schedule: A typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. Please note these positions are part-time (up to 20 hours a week) and the schedule can be flexible; however, the hours vary based on field trips scheduled during the school year.

Examples of Essential Functions

The Adobe Days Instructors will:

  • Prepare materials and activity supplies for school field trips.
  • Conduct field trip activities and tours for elementary school students.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Staff works outside in all weather conditions. Occasional lifting and carrying of tables, chairs, trash cans and equipment may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the positions are qualifying. The ideal candidate would be someone who is friendly and likes and wants to work around elementary students. Knowledge of California and Vista history is desirable.

Workers' Compensation: The City provides Workers' Compensation Insurance to all employees.

Retirement Contribution: Employee is required to contribute 7.5% of gross earnings to the MissionSquare Retirement Plan, which is offered in lieu of Social Security, OR Current CalPERS members will be required to contribute the full employee contribution of 8%.
