Principal Analytics Engineer

As a Principal Data Analyst, you will combine analytical depth, business acumen, and technical expertise to deliver data-driven insights across Gopuff. You will work cross-functionally with product, operations, marketing, and finance teams to identify opportunities, influence strategy, and ensure our business decisions are grounded in data. This is a high-visibility role where you will be both an independent contributor and a strategic thought partner to senior leadership. While we are open to remote employees, individuals living near Philadelphia, Miami, NYC, Boston, Seattle, Austin, or the Bay Area may receive preferential treatment.
Responsibilities
- Lead deep-dive analyses on customer behavior, assortment, pricing, promotions, and operations to drive growth and profitability
- Act as a strategic analytics partner to executives and senior leaders across the business, translating complex data into actionable insights
- Develop and maintain advanced BI reporting, dashboards, and analytical frameworks to support decision-making at scale
- Apply expertise in SQL and data modeling to extract, transform, and analyze large datasets from Snowflake and other data sources
- Collaborate with Analytics Engineering and Data Platform teams to ensure data availability, reliability, and scalability for strategic use cases
- Mentor analysts and stakeholders in data best practices, elevating the overall analytical maturity of the organization
- Communicate findings clearly and persuasively to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, or related quantitative field (MBA or advanced degree preferred)
- 7+ years of professional experience in strategy, business intelligence, data analytics, or related fields (retail/e-commerce experience strongly preferred)
- Expert in SQL (Snowflake & dbt experience preferred) with proven ability to build and analyze complex datasets
- Hands-on experience with modern BI and visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI)
- Proficiency in at least one programming language for analytics (e.g., Python, R) preferred
- Strong business acumen with demonstrated experience influencing strategy and driving measurable outcomes
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills with the ability to present to executives
- Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced environment, with a track record of tackling ambiguous problems and delivering results
Compensation
- Gopuff pays employees based on market pricing and pay may vary depending on your location. The salary range below reflects what we'd reasonably expect to pay candidates. A candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, interview performance, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. - Remote US Base Salary Range: $145,000 - $205,000
