Join a cross-disciplinary team, providing a range of engineering skills in the development of multi-sensor collection systems. In this role, you will work with internal and external teams to define system requirements, design image capture and embedded systems boards to collect and store data, create detailed theory of operations and decision documents, and verification plans. You will interact with product and program management, manufacturing, and product life-cycle management teams to define and implement design requirements and communicate the consequences of design decisions leads the team. You will participate in the validation and production test process ensures that critical performance metrics continue to be met all the way through the final artifact in the field.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$216,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities include architecting, designing, bringing up and validating embedded systems hardware used which captures sensor data for Google Maps. Create, review and approve hardware designs (e.g., block diagrams, schematics, layouts, algorithms, protocols, link budgets). Evaluate hardware design feasibility based on product requirements. Work cross-functionally with internal software and firmware teams, as well as external partners. Apply standard procedures to improve constrained hardware components to meet performance, power, and cost-effectiveness requirements. Drive efforts for the documentation of the hardware design, its implementation, or test/validation results throughout the product life cycle.
