As a Principal Engineer for the Data Protection team, you will drive technical excellence for a broad set of Google critical systems and enable the data protection of Google products. This includes enabling secure AI development by introducing data protection controls that don't impede velocity as well as agentic approaches to these challenges (e.g., data labeling, policy enforcement, data transformation). They will help design a multi-year engineering roadmap, balancing short- and long-term goals and investments, to ensure that Google is well-positioned to continue to protect users while the overall ecosystem continues to grow in complexity and be disrupted by AI. In this role, you will navigate a surge in high-priority mandates, including architecting cross-domain protection for data traversing Google products, device-to-cloud boundaries, systemic safeguards for agentic workflows, and automated technical compliance with accelerating AI regulations.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $307,000-$427,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
