Operations General Foreman
In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical "Oko" gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Operations General Foreman
The Operations General Foreman is responsible for overseeing and managing all operational activities within the GMining Venture Oko West mining site, ensuring a safe, efficient, and cost-effective production. The General Foreman will lead the team, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, production schedules, and quality standards. They will play a critical role in supervising day-to-day mining operations, maintaining equipment, and optimizing production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations Management:
- Supervise and coordinate the mining operations to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
- Oversee the safe and efficient operation of all mining equipment and processes.
- Ensure compliance with the mine's operational procedures, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
- Ensure that mining activities are performed in accordance with geological data and mine planning.
- Team Leadership and Supervision:
- Lead and manage a team of supervisors and miners, providing direction and support.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and coaching sessions for direct reports.
- Ensure effective communication across all levels of the operation.
- Ensure staff is well-trained on operating procedures, safety practices, and equipment usage.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce all safety protocols and ensure all team members comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Promote a safety culture by encouraging safe work practices and leading by example.
- Production and Equipment Management:
- Monitor and adjust work processes to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
- Assist in the maintenance of mining equipment, ensuring regular inspections and servicing.
- Identify and address equipment malfunctions, delays, or maintenance issues.
- Ensure proper stock levels of mining supplies, tools, and materials.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports to the Mine Operations Manager.
- Maintain accurate records of work schedules, equipment status, safety inspections, and training activities.
- Monitor and manage operational costs and productivity metrics.
- Ensure all documentation is compliant with company policies and legal requirements.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., geology, maintenance, engineering) to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate any issues, challenges, or potential risks to the Mine Operations Manager in a timely manner.
- Participate in regular team meetings and collaborate with colleagues on process improvements.
Qualifications/Skills and Experience
- Degree in Geological Engineering and or technical certificate in Mining with equivalent experience.
- At least 5-10 years' experience in a similar role.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Attention to detail and high accuracy in data entry and record-keeping

- Work Schedule – 14 days on 7 days Off
