The Director, Commercial Operations is a senior leadership role within Gilead Nordics, accountable for driving commercial excellence, innovation, and operational effectiveness across the affiliate. The role partners closely with the General Manager and Nordic Leadership Team to translate strategy into execution, strengthen data-driven decision-making, and continuously evolve the commercial operating model across therapeutic areas.

Operating in a complex matrix environment, the role enables sustainable growth, productivity, and compliance across the affiliate.

Key Accountabilities

Commercial Strategy, Execution & Innovation

  • Drive innovation through advanced analytics, digital enablement, and new commercial operating models.
  • Identify, pilot, and scale initiatives that improve sales effectiveness, customer engagement, and omnichannel execution.

Sales, Marketing & Trade Operations

  • Lead sales force effectiveness, including targeting, segmentation, territory design, and incentive compensation.
  • Own forecasting, business planning, and performance monitoring processes.
  • Lead and manage the Trade Operations team, ensuring robust trade governance and compliant management of contracts, discounts, rebates, and customer terms across the Nordics.
  • Act as a strategic partner to Business Unit Directors and regional stakeholders, providing insights and operational guidance.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Manage Commercial Operations budgets, forecasting, and expense governance.
  • Partner with Finance to optimize resource allocation and balance innovation investment with financial discipline.

People Leadership & Culture

  • Lead and develop the Commercial Operations organization, fostering accountability, inclusion, and innovation.
  • Build future-ready capabilities through talent development, clear role accountability, and effective change management.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure all activities comply with Gilead policies, local regulations, and industry standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes, tools, and governance models.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • Extensive experience (+10 years) in commercial operations within pharmaceuticals or healthcare, including leading change or transformation
  • Strong expertise in sales effectiveness, forecasting, analytics, and financial management.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead in a matrix organization.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; strong digital and analytical capability.
