Dry Utilities Lead

About the role:
The dry utilities lead is ultimately responsible for technical delivery of projects under their specific discipline (Dry infrastructure). The Dry utilities lead possesses excellent communication skills and champions technical competencies.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Understands the dry utilities design and can independently carry out engineering calculations (when needed) for basic dry utilities design. However, will be responsible mainly for QA and providing guidance/mentorship to graduate and junior engineers
- Is fully capable of leading complex dry utilities design, inclusive of modelling tools (ETAP, Dialux Evo, DIALux, AGi 32), calculations, markups and specifications. Responsible for providing guidance/mentorship to senior engineers
- Able to develop engineered solutions for linear infrastructures, dynamic models for the following services: MV/LV networks, power distribution, street lighting (and streetscape lighting), solar power, telecommunication system, pump stations, Electrical design and sizing of transformers, generators, switchgear, MCC panels, and utility corridors, Load schedule preparation, voltage drop calculations, and single line diagram development, MV/LV electrical design for irrigation, sewage, fire, and storm water pump stations, Lighting calculations using Dialux 4.13, Evo, and AGi32
- Have expert understanding of all RIBA work stages Preparation of concept, preliminary, and detailed design reports and specifications (inclusive of tender and IFC)
- Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across project phases
- Have sound understanding of authorities approval process and ability to gain approvals on your own design outputs (Abu Dhabi)
- Must have the ability to estimate accurate hours required to complete specific tasks
- Confident in allocating workload to junior engineers whilst maintaining a modest self utilisation
- Manage the achievement of utilisation targets, maximizing financial performance through effective performance conversations and active leave management;
- Responsible for ensuring we have the 'right' technical capability at set-up and these resources are committed for the duration of the project;
- You will be given the opportunity to lead projects as discipline lead.
- Collaborate with Technical Service Leaders, and contribute to Delivery; Transformation initiatives, to drive continuous efficiency and quality improvements through the Service Group;
- Support Business Group Leader and Technical Service Leader with recruitment of new capabilities aligned with strategy.
- Must have basic understanding of wet utilities design to enable design coordination
- Understanding of BIM modelling environment and Civil 3D and the challenges faced by modelling teams (ACC, AutoCAD, Navisworks inclusive)

To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Proven experience in delivering infrastructure projects with consultant fee value exceeding 10m AED (with Dry utilities portion of the overall fee exceeding 2m AED)
- Provide experience in independently delivering infrastructure projects within UAE
- Proven experience in achieving project performance and utilization targets.
- Excellent understanding of authorities approvals process
- Strong record of delivering technical excellence.
- Strong communication skills;
- Strong relationship building and influencing skills;
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills (if you are able to demonstrate succession planning this will be highly valued)
- Relevant technical background and experience
