Graduate Electrical Engineer Position

Who could you be at GHD? Our two-year Graduate Development Program is designed to give you a smooth start to your consulting career. Alongside your peers, managers and mentors, we'll help you detangle any challenges along the way.

Whether your passion is in Engineering, Science, Project Management, Architecture or another consulting speciality, we'll work with you to find your ideal first role. Along the way, you'll get a broad look at the many career pathways available at GHD—because no future should come with split ends! You'll have the chance to work in design teams to help deliver exciting projects, contribute to bids and tenders, and even get hands-on with occasional site work. In your first year, we'll focus on the fundamentals of consulting to help you find your rhythm in the industry. By year two, you'll have the flexibility to style your development, whether that's diving deeper into your technical development or soaking up wisdom from your mentors.

We're looking for Graduate Electrical Engineers to join our Water team in Perth. In Western Australia, our 90-year partnership with the water sector has cultivated strong client relationships and a deep understanding of their challenges, equipping us to assist them in preparing for what lies ahead. We have an industry leading team of water experts that are very well known in Perth for water infrastructure, water resources engineering and science consulting. We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Graduates who will have completed their degree by the end of 2025. You will be involved in:

  • Producing water infrastructure designs from planning through to delivery
  • Electrical design using various software packages such as PTW, PowerCAD
  • Design calculations and drawing preparation
  • Report writing and producing technical specifications
  • Preparing load lists, cable schedules, and Material Take Offs

We're looking for graduates who have:

  • Good technical report writing skills (good oral and written communication skills)
  • Effective time management skills and can manage conflicting priorities.
  • A strong desire to learn and solve problems in a team context.
  • An interest in water infrastructure and water resource engineering.
  • Can assist in interpreting client requirements.
  • Embrace our shared commitment to safety in all aspects of our work.
  • The ability to multi-task and self-prioritize workload.
  • High attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Be willing to travel occasionally if required.

Familiarity with the following skills is desirable but not essential:

  • Control System and network architecture design
  • Instrumentation selection and specification
  • Communications systems such as serial comms, TCP/IP, Modbus, and other Fieldbuses
