Engineering Production Support Cnc Programmer
PDS Defense, Inc. is seeking a Engineering Production Support CNC Programmer, in Columbus, GA. Responsible for providing technical and engineering support among McCauley product lines, suppliers, and engineering groups to resolve manufacturing nonconformance to type design. Designs, analyzes, and writes repair solutions on production and experimental propellers in a timely manner to restore design integrity, ensure aircraft reliability, serviceability, and maintain certification requirements.
Responsibilities include:
- Troubleshooting and resolving operational/performance issues with propeller products
- Providing technical support to internal manufacturing operations and suppliers as needed
- Coordinating with Engineering Production Support, Supply Chain, and other technical groups to develop technical resources for team usage
- Assisting team to resolve engineering problems impeding production and to assist in the incorporation of new design concepts and changes
- Performing failure analysis to support engineering and production activities throughout the organization
- Supporting new design activities for propeller certification programs
- Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 to model cutting paths and program for 2 to 5 axis machines including mills, lathes, and routers
- Collaborating with Engineering regarding production capabilities, tooling and build-plan methodology and giving input/feedback on associated design criteria; analyzing engineering design to determine manufacturability of components and assemblies
- Determining manufacturing processes, tooling methodology, discrete manufacturing operations and associated time standards to be used to produce new parts/assemblies from detail component fabrication thru job-level installation; authoring and maintaining process plans for shop floor methods/work instructions
- Supporting integration of new components and assemblies into manufacturing. Developing learning curve and actual hour projections for new program production incorporation; analyzing actual performance and making necessary process improvement recommendations
Skills:
- Ability to develop a machined part from start to finish (to include operation of the CNC and creating setup sheets); skilled in Catia software for creating efficient toolpaths; strong troubleshooting skills for resolving machining errors and setup issues
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required in: Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, another related field. Or in lieu of degree requirement, must possess 5+ years of prior relevant experience as a CNC Machine Programmer
Required Qualifications:
- Strong working knowledge of NC Programming, Loft, Engineering design, and Tool Design
- Experience with CATIA v5 or higher
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Collaborates and easily gets along in team-based environments
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Excellent organizational skills
- Computer Proficiency (MS Office, etc.)
