Direct Support Professional (DSP)

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Marlan's Silver Lining, you will play a vital role in providing direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Your primary focus will be on promoting independence, personal growth, and a high quality of life for our residents.

Personal Care and Health:

• Assist with daily life skills and personal care tasks
• Foster positive relationships between individuals and their housemates
• Monitor and report changes in health conditions
• Assist with medication administration and documentation
• Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs

Transportation and Safety:

• Maintain a safe environment and respond to crises
• Follow all safety protocols and participate in safety drills
• Operate and maintain agency vehicles per policy

Program Structure and Environment:

• Implement person-centered curricula based on individuals' needs and strengths
• Fill in schedule gaps with learning opportunities
• Assist in daily life skill development
• Maintain high household standards, including cleaning and organization
• Prepare meals according to agency standards

Documentation and Communication:

• Maintain accurate records of individuals' progress and goals
• Communicate effectively with staff, families, and external stakeholders
• Build and maintain positive relationships
• Demonstrate emotional awareness and empathy in interactions

Professionalism and Leadership:

• Report to shifts, meetings, and training on time
• Actively participate in agency activities and collaborate with co-workers
• Follow agency procedures and be flexible to fill in as needed
• Represent the agency positively and demonstrate good problem-solving skills
• Work toward team and agency goals
• Actively participate in team decisions
• Take initiative to implement best practices and meet licensing standards
• Assume a leadership role in crisis management
• Collaborate professionally with other parts of the agency
