Under general supervision, performs complex examination, review, and processing of documents filed with the Corporations Division ("Division"). Reviews, examines, and processes the following filing and registration types in a timely manner: service of process, consent to service, trademark/service mark, development authority, trust estate, cable/video franchise authority, structured settlement purchase company, private child support collection agency, itinerant entertainer, other special services filings, and other Division related filings, including but not limited to, business formation filings, amendments, name reservations, and annual registrations. Accurately interprets, analyzes, explains, and applies complex statutes and regulations, with a sound understanding of how they correlate to document filings. Analyzes submitted documents and makes a determination to accept or deny submitted documents based on statutory and regulatory compliance. Processes and files for record submitted documents that meet statutory and regulatory compliance. Determines if filing corrections are needed and initiates filing deficiency process. If needed, composes and issues deficiency letters from an instructional and positive approach for submitted documents that cannot be filed for record due to non-compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Performs extensive in-depth research to ensure that the appropriate documents are collected, examined, evaluated, and processed based on statutory and regulatory compliance. Assists constituents with the filing process, correcting documents, and finding information on applicable laws, rules, policies, and procedures relating to Division filing and registration requirements. Maintains subject matter expert knowledge of applicable laws and rules, as well as applicable Division policies, procedures, and database systems. Ensures compliance with state record retention policy as it relates to trademarks/service marks, service of process, consent to service, and other special services filings, including the transfer of documents to State Records Center and/or Georgia Archives, as appropriate. Assists legal staff and open records officer with search, retrieval, redaction, and production of documents responsive to open records requests, subpoenas, and investigative document requests. Processes requests for certified copies of trademark/service mark, service of process, consent to service, development authority, and other special service filings. Identifies sensitive or confidential information and abides by confidentiality requirements. Ensures timely and accurate distribution of renewal notices related to trademark/service mark registrations, cable/video state franchises, structured settlement purchase companies, and other special service filings. Determines when registrations should be cancelled, terminated, or made inactive based on statutes, rules, and regulations. Manages and ensures an accurate and timely process flow. Assists and supports training needs, through cross-training and coordination of duties with co-workers for the success of the Division. Assists with special projects as needed. Interacts with all levels of state government in a way that promotes respect, encourages cooperation, and contributes to excellent performance. None Two (2) years of experience in conducting comprehensive and detailed examinations and research of documents, and experience in the interpretation of rules and regulations. High School diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in a related field from a nationally accredited college or institution and two (2) years of related experience OR associate's degree in a related field from an accredited college or institution and four (4) years of related experience. Paralegal certification from a nationally accredited paralegal certification program desired. Knowledge of service of process and trademark registrations highly desired.
