Under broad supervision, maintains, diagnoses, inspects, and/or repairs engines, vehicles and other motorized equipment.
Entry Qualifications: High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of experience in area of assignment OR one (1) year of experience at the lower-level Mechanic 2 (FET061) or position equivalent. Preferred Qualifications: Five (5) or more years of experience in the area of assignment. One (1) or more Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and/or ICAR Certification(s). Demonstrated experience providing hands-on training to individuals in the automotive industry. Demonstrated experience with vehicle outfitting and installation of special equipment. Demonstrated knowledge of State purchasing guidelines and requirements. Proficiency in computer-based systems including outlook, excel, word. Experience with inventory management, report writing, and updating vehicle records.
Notes: This position is located at GDC Fleet Operations in Monroe County, GA. Responsibilities include evaluating, diagnosing, and repairing state vehicles and other equipment. This position also provides automotive training and supervision to individuals participating in On-The-Job Training from a local Transitional Center.
