Job Overview

The Assistant Director of Academic Affairs works with the Director of Academic Affairs in the Center for Security Studies (CSS)/Security Studies Program (SSP) to provide student advising, registration, and related academic support to approximately 150-200 of the 550+ SSP graduate students. This position is also responsible for academic record management and is one of the primary points of contact for GU Experience at SSP. By fostering a supportive and structured environment, the Assistant Director plays an important role in ensuring student success and a smooth path toward graduation.

The Assistant Director of Academic Affairs reports to the Director of Academic Affairs.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of professional experience in academic advising or closely related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and a commitment to outstanding customer service are essential. Intercultural communication skills and experience working with diverse student populations are highly desirable.

Work Mode Designation

This position has been designated as Hybrid 2 Days. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. Pay Range: $44,022.00 - $73,406.80

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
