Northwest Water Material Products Distributor seeks an experienced utility outside salesperson or individual with hands-on experience. Territory: Eastern Washington/Northern Idaho
Primary Duties: Sales of water metering products and AMR/AMI solutions to current and prospective customers.
Requirements: Extensive travel, 3 to 4 nights per week; Strong computer skills; Participation in trade shows and conferences; Good driving record; Excellent communications skills; Self-Starter.
Job Duties: Promote and maintain corporate image through consistent and quality service, and establish and maintain positive working relationships with customers, vendors and co-workers. Travel throughout Pacific Northwest to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders and resolve customer problems. Call on customers on a regular schedule. Demonstrate products using samples or catalogs, and educate customers about terminology, features, and benefits of products in order to improve product-related sales and customer satisfaction. Travel with factory representatives and agents to assist in demonstrations and affirm relationships when necessary. Determine customer requirements and expectations to recommend specific products and solutions. Analyze customer business opportunities and proactively recommend items needed by customers to increase customer satisfaction and improve transaction profitability. Generate new and repeat sales by providing customers with technical data on materials and products as needed and information on alternative materials and products when available. Recommend alternative products based on cost, availability, or specifications. Contact customers following sales to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction and resolve any complaints. Fill requests for catalogs, information, or samples. Keep appropriate inside salespersons abreast of changes and potential customer problems. Entertain customers and prospective customers within budget restraints. Prepare weekly expense reports and maintains proper records and receipts. Maintain and service own company vehicle. Remain current on consumer preferences by attending sales meetings, vendor training, trade shows, and reading trade journals.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors and the general public. Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals, with and without the use of a calculator. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Capable of operating a PC and various software packages including, but not limited to: word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail and internet applications. Capable of operating office equipment such as a printer, scanner, photocopier and fax machine. Ability to apply correct oral and written English. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
