The Role

We are seeking a high-performing Engine Development Engineer, who is responsible for planning, developing, and executing component and subsystem level tests in a world class testing and development facility. Tasks include hands-on testing, data analysis, and calibration development, as well as identifying opportunities for data reduction and migrating lab-based activities to virtual methods. This is an assignment where creativity, initiative, and independent judgment are involved, and effective cross-organizational teamwork is crucial.

What You'll Do

  • Execute development activities across multiple programs
  • Actively participate in the pursuit of test reduction and elimination, collaborating with design and analysis colleagues and other stakeholders to identify opportunities and grow capability
  • Follow development test unit through build process - support setup and debugging to assure test readiness
  • Track and report on testing progress and issues
  • Develop and execute first-time capable tests for calibration and hardware development
  • Lead diagnosis and resolution of issues that occur during setup and testing
  • Actively participate in Product Development Teams and work with Technical Specialists to improve current tests and develop new tests. This may involve comprehending related ECU algorithms and associated calibration process
  • Utilize and create post processing tools to assure data quality and track usefulness of data in generation of final calibration or reports
  • Develop and implement standard work processes and procedures globally
  • Interact with facilities, technical leads, calibration teams, hardware release engineers, and others to improve process and test efficiency

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • BS in Engineering
  • 2 years of Engineering experience
  • Demonstrated drive for results
  • Previous experience or knowledge in propulsions systems
  • Strong planning and problem-solving skills
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others, and ability to establish peer relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize work and resource, and work independently with minimal direction
  • Proficient with computer and data acquisition systems
  • Experience in data analysis to optimize testing or model results

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with AVL PUMA/IndiCom/CAMEO and ETAS INCA software
  • Exposure to propulsion system calibration in test and vehicle environment
  • Demonstrated experience with engine testing, calibration, or hardware development
  • Experience with engine dyno setup and testing
  • Familiarity with government test cycles (e.g., FTP, US06, WLTP, RDE)

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least three times a week. This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate. This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review.
