We are seeking a results-driven Citrix VDI Performance Desktop Engineer to join our Enterprise VDI Team. This individual will play a critical role in building, testing, and optimizing Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) images to ensure a high-performance, scalable, and stable end-user experience across the enterprise environment.

The engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining the base VDI image, conducting thorough pre-production testing, and ensuring each release meets defined functional and performance benchmarks. The ideal candidate will leverage Login VSI to build and execute synthetic transactions for performance benchmarking, regression testing, and release validation.

This position requires a highly self-motivated individual who works well independently, seeks out performance and system improvement opportunities proactively, and has a deep understanding of Citrix-based virtual desktop environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Build, configure, and maintain enterprise-grade Citrix VDI images.

Perform pre-production testing to validate the stability, compatibility, and functionality of VDI image updates.

  • Functional validation of system components.
  • Verification of known issues and regressions.

Use Login VSI (or similar performance testing tools) to:

  • Create and run synthetic transactions to simulate user activity.
  • Benchmark performance impacts of each release.
  • Identify bottlenecks and areas for optimization.

Monitor system performance and recommend tuning and optimization strategies for improved end-user experience.

Collaborate with application teams, infrastructure teams, and IT support to resolve compatibility and performance issues.

Investigate and document performance baselines and deviations post-release.

Maintain detailed documentation for image build procedures, test plans, and performance metrics.

Independently research and identify opportunities for system improvements and performance enhancements.

Ensure compliance with enterprise security and change management policies.

What You'll Need To Succeed Bring your technology expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The Systems Engineer Senior must have:

    • Hands-on experience with Login VSI (or similar VDI performance testing tools).
    • Strong understanding of image lifecycle management including version control, change management, and testing workflows.
    • Experience with Windows desktop OS configuration and optimization for VDI (e.g., Windows 10/11 multi-session).
    • Proficient in analyzing performance logs, metrics, and synthetic test data to identify performance trends and areas of concern.
  • Role requirements:
    • Ability to write and maintain test plans and validation procedures.
